Carroll College, an independent Catholic, Diocesan, Liberal Arts College seeks an Assistant Controller who will support the mission of the college and serve as a leader and team member in the Business Office. On a day-to-day basis the Assistant Controller will assist in the direction and oversight of the financial operations of the College which include cash management, financial reporting, grant accounting, investment accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant accounting, fixed asset accounting, and payroll. This position will also assist in the development and administration of the College’s internal control plan, serve as a liaison with external auditors and reporting agencies, provide leadership on fund accounting and non-profit tax issues and perform financial reporting and analysis as required. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, with a CPA, CIA, or other designation preferred and a minimum of five years of progressive professional experience in accounting operations or auditing. Experience in higher education or a not for profit environment is desirable. Successful candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills; have a strong work ethic, solid and thorough working knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of accounting to include fund accounting and financial statement preparation; strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel and Word, as well as, experience working with integrated financial software and financial implementation; and the ability to work under strict time constraints. The successful candidate must establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public; maintain the ability to think critically, plan strategically, and prioritize actions as they relate to the College’s goals and must have leadership, communication, problem solving and supervisory skills.
