The University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas is seeking a Vice President of Academic Information Resources & Technology - Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO) to provide the technology vision and managerial leadership for all information systems initiatives for the medical school and related enterprises. This is a new position reporting to the EVP for Academic Affairs and Research and is an integral part of the President’s Executive Committee. The newly configured Academic Information Resources & Technology Division will consist of functions previously operated separately and including: Information Technology Services, Academic Information Services, Telecommunications, Records Management, Biomedical Communications and the Lewis Library. The Health Science Center includes the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, founded in 1970, UNT Health, a 160 physician faculty practice, the Physician Assistant Studies Program, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the Schools of Public Health and Health Professions. A key challenge for the new VP/CIO will be to assess current systems and staffing and make recommendations as to the appropriate information technology organization going forward. It will be important for the VP/CIO to be comfortable serving on the senior management team, and will need to be seen as a competent, knowledgeable leader with solid relationship management skills. Master’s degree preparation is required and there is a preference for a seasoned IT executive who has had experience at a university, medical school, or health science center.
