Description:

Antioch University seeks a qualified Instructional Support Designer to be part of our team implementing the Sakai course management system. Reporting to the Director of Academic Technology the successful candidate will be responsible for managing key aspects of the instructional support and faculty training process. You will communicate and coordinate across all five university campuses and work with academic deans, faculty, other academic technology staff, and vendors.

Antioch University's administrative offices are in Yellow Springs (OH) and we have campuses in Yellow Springs (OH), Keene (NH), Seattle (WA), Santa Barbara (CA), and Los Angeles (CA). The successful candidate could be located at any of these campuses. Some travel between campuses will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promote effective teaching and learning within a range of technology enhanced environments.

• Work closely with user groups to select, organize and structure design elements and templates for various delivery media ensuring accuracy, quality & timeliness of training materials and courseware.

• Support the design, development, modification, and evaluation of web-based environments in Sakai, including instructional programs, courses, materials, methods, teaching & assessment techniques, and e-portfolios.

• Develop training programs using web-based, virtual classroom and instructor led modalities to create synchronous and asynchronous training in a Sakai LMS environment.

• Create job aids, facilitator and participant guides, study guides, etc. to accompany courseware.

• Mentor and train faculty through review of active courses, one-on-one training, and group training as appropriate.

• Introduce and integrate innovative use of new technologies. • Seek and procure grants relating to e-learning.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or equivalent required, Master’s preferred.

• Extensive Learning Management Systems software experience. Experience with Sakai and/or Elluminate would be a definite plus.

• 2+ years related experience in instructional design and delivery.

• Experience working directly with higher education faculty.
