Gartner's research has shown that disenfranchisement ("they treat us like we're invisible") and disempowerment ("that's not my job") are powerful and often mutually self-fulfilling perceptions that are held by both stakeholders and IT professionals. How do our behaviors as IT staff and organizations perpetuate these perceptions? This session will consist of a participant dialogue about the role of IT in the organization, the "marketing" of IT, and the closing of the perception gap between what IT thinks it is delivering versus what the institution believes it is receiving.
