Meeting Theme and Purpose

The idea of "learning ecosystems" has been emerging over the past year in international conferences and forums, and could be a useful way of thinking about elearning and higher education. In biological terms, an ecosystem is the complex of a community and its environment functioning as an ecological unit. New learners, using new technologies, are creating new learning ecosystems on campus. The mobile and connected learner interacting with a blended learning environment is changing concepts of time, place, and space for higher education.

Pre-Meeting Preparations

To help participants get the most out of the conference, we will offer supplemental readings and resources to prepare them for the various presentations and to raise the level of discussion. We will be asking all speakers to recommend white papers, Web sites, articles, and other resources that were helpful to attendees with an interest in a particular topic; these will be placed on Pre-Meeting Preparations page as they are provided to us.
