EDUCAUSE Leadership Award

EDUCAUSE Leadership Award

for Distinguished Performance and Outstanding Service

About the Award

The highest individual recognition offered by EDUCAUSE comes in the form of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Award, which acknowledges and celebrates leadership within and of higher education information technology. This program recognizes prominent professionals whose work has had significant positive impact on the contributions of information technology to higher education. Such leadership takes many forms: Some individuals can see farther into the future than most and help others find their way in the changing technology landscape; some lead the development and application of key new technologies for higher education; some pioneer national and international policy agendas that help create a sustaining environment for higher education IT. Some create and manage elegantly structured, productive organizations, others excel at mentoring and cultivating the next generation of leaders. Through this award program, EDUCAUSE seeks to recognize the individuals who most clearly demonstrate the ability to serve and advance information technology within higher education.

Award recipients are selected by the EDUCAUSE Recognition Committee.

EDUCAUSE awards are sponsored by SunGard Higher Education, An EDUCAUSE Platinum Partner.

Guidelines and Eligibility

  • Candidates must be or have been contributing members of our professional community, directly associated with managing information resources in higher education, who have made demonstrable contributions to the advancement of technology as an effective tool of higher education.

Recognition

Award recipients are recognized at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference. Each receives a sculpture specially designed for this program by Colorado artist John Haertling, along with complimentary registration, travel, and housing for the conference at which the presentation takes place. Contributions are made to scholarship funds of the recipient's choice in the amount of $3,000. Award recipients are also invited to present conference talks on a subject of their choice, reflecting their area of professional expertise and interest. Highlights of their achievements are added to the gallery of award recipients on the EDUCAUSE Web site.
