    About the Taxonomy

The EDUCAUSE Taxonomy, an expert-created hierarchical categorical listing of nearly 600 terms, helps you more easily explore topics and find specific documents in the association’s extensive collection of online information resources. The EDUCAUSE Taxonomy is applied to all resource center documents. It is divided into seven categories. Each topic is further broken down into subtopics, some of which include more narrowly focused nested topics.

A resource page has been created for each individual taxonomy term. The resource page is an aggregated collection of all resources indexed with that specific term. Taxonomy term pages are consistently updated and populated by the EDUCAUSE librarian.

    About the Folksonomy

Folksonomy is the practice and method of collaboratively creating and managing tags to annotate and categorize content. Folksonomy is a bottom-up classification system that emerged from social tagging. The EDUCAUSE Folksonomy contains a list of user-contributed terms used to tag content. Term pages in the EDUCAUSE Resource Center Folksonomy are user-contributed and user-tagged.
