Applying Open-Source Lessons to Research Services Development
Thursday
Jun 3rd, 2010
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Vinings Room (6th floor)
Session Type: Poster Session
Translational science promotes collaboration across disciplines to advance the understanding of complex systems. Supporting demanding science requires teams of informatics and technology experts that can deliver the cutting-edge solutions to advance science. Unfortunately, the talent at our institutions is too often spread thinly across the enterprise and impossible to leverage. Engaging and coordinating individuals across traditional administrative domain boundaries is the key to solving our most vexing scientific problems. This presentation will explore the growing experience at UAB in applying principles of open-source development to coordinate experts across campus, hospital, and research IT groups to deliver clinical data and drive translational research.
