The success of Information Technology Services at the University of West Georgia depends on selecting and developing good people. Last summer we looked at the process we use to select new hires and found it to be lacking. We employed very traditional interviewing techniques that focused on the technical skill set of the applicants and used a single encounter with the applicant during the interview to drive our entire hiring decision. Once hired, we did not take advantage of the six-month probationary period. This session will describe the process we went through to improve this critical process.
