Session Type: Concurrent Session
On April 27, 2011, a mile-wide EF4 tornado ripped through Tuscaloosa, passing less than a mile from the University of Alabama Financial Affairs data center. Although the campus was not directly in the path of the tornado, university emergency preparedness and business continuity procedures were activated and relied upon extensively by UA and City of Tuscaloosa officials. This presentation will focus on IT's involvement in the aftermath of the tornado: what we did and didn't do, what worked, and how we'll be better prepared in the future to serve our university and our community.
