Evolving Academic Computing Offerings: A Successful Strategy

Capitol Ballroom F-H
Session Type: Managing the Enterprise
Rice University has struggled to find a method for updating infrastructure, embracing new technologies, and decommissioning old ones. Rice tried a new methodology in replacing and updating its OwlNet UNIX-based infrastructure. The data-driven and customer-focused process has yielded a newly deployed service, enthusiastic faculty and students engaged in testing, and a feeling of satisfaction at the transparency of the process. The result is a model that Rice will follow again.
