Learner Engagement with Lecture Capture

With an increasing availability of campus-wide lecture capture systems, understanding how and providing ways for students to engage with academic video for learning is an emerging area of focus. Opencast Matterhorn is an open-source lecture capture solution developed by higher education institutions. Within Matterhorn, an expanding set of tools enable learners to discover and access content within recordings and to engage with the content and with peers through social tools. Additionally, campuses are exploring innovative methods for integrating lecture recordings into a cohesive, relevant, and contextually based learning environment, including UC Berkeley, University of Saskatchewan, and other institutions.
