How do you handle immunizations for students?  Do you have a system to track immunizations?

I found several with a google search:  American Databank, Verified Credentials, Certified Background, Mediease, Medicat, Medatrax, Nuesoft, Do you have any experience with any of them?

Do you put a hold on registration if immunizations are not met?

I’m especially interested in hearing from health science schools, like us, who need up to date immunizations in order to send students out on clinicals, such as nursing programs, etc.

We use e*Value from Advanced Informatics for rotations/clerkship management. We track immunizations in that software.

Message from shelf@westernu.edu

We use a combination of SharePoint and New Innovations to track this information. Additionally, we will use VSAS, as well, moving forward this academic year, 2012-2013.

If you would like to speak with the folks that actually do the day-to-day work, just let me know, and we will put you in touch.

Please let me know if I may be of further service.

John,
Our College of Pharmacy has just contracted with Certified Background...but we have no experience to share yet. I would be glad to get you a contact name in Pharmacy should you want to explore further. Central IT was not involved.

Hello,

At Carnegie Mellon we implemented a solution called Point n Click (www.pointnclick.com) for student health and counseling. It is primarily suited for Health Services organization but it does offer a Student Web Portal that provides web based immunization tracking that is HIPAA compliant if implemented with the right controls. I haven’t asked about implementing just Immunization Tracking for use but I can’t see why it wouldn’t fill that need and the immunization tracking is easy to use. It has saved us tons of time each year tracking immunizations electronically for incoming students versus our old paper form process. It also does secure messaging for Health Information keeping it all on our servers so if you have to send messages to students about their immunizations you aren’t doing it via email which could be a security issue.

One of the best things about this company is that they specialize in higher education and student health so they have integration with Shibboleth and are used to integrating with Student Systems.

Thanks,
