Pulling Off the Band-Aid Quickly: An LMS Transition Case Study

Tuesday, February 04 | 11:30AM–12:15PM
Session Type: Professional Development

We will describe the process we used at UCF to rapidly pilot three separate learning management systems concurrently over one very busy summer semester, involving all campus constituencies, while still supporting the current legacy platform. Various factors were considered, including SIS integration, information security requirements, core features/functionality, mobile, analytics, e-portfolios, ADA accessibility, and administrative controls. The unique aspects of this case study are the scale, aggressive timeline, and strategies deployed to ensure success. Learn from our experience and take away best practices and pitfalls to avoid when evaluating enterprise learning management systems.

OUTCOMES: Understand the importance of communication in a major enterprise evaluation such as LMS selection * Understand the importance of structure and organization to the success of a complex project on an aggressive timeline * Leverage the UCF process as a template to follow or customize for your own enterprise evaluation
