Mark Corbould, Head, Centre for Networked Info & Pubs, Australian National University
[email protected]

ABSTRACT
This paper addresses the organizational, technological, and information dimensions of networked information provision at the Australian National University's Centre for Networked Information and Publishing (CNIP). Specifically, the paper outlines current developments across the University and strategic directions emerging for the 21st century.

Established in 1994 as a joint initiative of IT Services and the Library, CNIP provides a focus for the University's networked information activities. This focus has lead to the development of a range of cooperative projects within the University and with external organizations that go well beyond the role originally envisaged.

This paper outlines the strategies used to: develop innovation services through cooperative links with other organizations, increase the understanding and use of networked information technology by the University community, and provide key infrastructure for Networked Information Services.

Finally, the paper outlines examples of the Centre's significant activities in the areas of administration, teaching/learning, scholarly publication and community outreach.
