7 Things You Should Read About the LMS/Learning Ecosystem

Abstract

The LMS/Learning Ecosystem refers to the online learning environment as a continuum, with the LMS at one end and a student’s or faculty member’s own collection of applications, tools, and websites at the other. This model provides for a more robust and varied teaching and learning environment, one that is frequently managed actively by students or by faculty. The “7 Things You Should Read About...” series from the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) provides a concise set of resources on emerging learning technologies meant to provide a quick understanding on the topic. Topics are sourced from ELI’s “7 Things You Should Know About...“ series, which also contains an issue on the learning ecosystem. You may find other ELI resources useful in addressing teaching, learning, and technology issues at your institution. To learn more, please visit the ELI publications page.
