Abstract
In August 1998, the University of Texas at Austin debuted the Web site Applytexas. The site allows for submission of electronic applications for admission to any of the 35 public higher teaching institutions in Texas. The Web site is adaptive based on the specific admissions rules, policies, and procedures of each institution. Applications are sent electronically to the target institution. The site delivered more than 39,000 applications in its initial year and 103,000 applications for admission for the three 2000 terms.
