Explorations in Information Management and eLearning

Abstract

Systems for universal access to information and knowledge provide access to all human knowledge. They also present challenging problems, such as creating, indexing, and retrieving information from very large information sources. This talk will present some of these issues and possible solutions. Next-generation e-learning systems should be relevant and provide skills needed by potential employers. We will present examples of problem-oriented learning using project-based, Web-mentored, learning-by-doing modules being developed by Professor Roger Schank and colleagues for use at Carnegie Mellon West.
