Abstract
Digital library technologies are evolving rapidly. A middleware architecture based on a standard framework and Web services can provide a stable platform for changing technology and integrating disparate software components. This session will describe the requirements of such an architecture and present as an example the ALADIN platform developed by the Washington Research Library Consortium to support access to digital collections, subscription databases, and library catalogs.
