Janet started her role as Chief Technology Officer at Carleton College in May 2013. As CTO Janet has responsibility for the maintenance and strategic direction of the technology infrastructure. The Information Technology Services (ITS) department has a staff of 35 grouped in 5 units: Technology Support, Enterprise Information Services, Systems & Infrastructure, Web Services and Academic Technology. While at Carleton, Janet has expanded support for teaching and learning initiatives, has put an emphasis on campus partnership and has restructured the help desk and campus communications. Janet is the co-PI of an NSF Cyber-infrastructure grant and lead contributor on a Mellon collaboration grant with neighboring institution St. Olaf College.

Prior to moving to the land of 10,000 lakes, Janet was Director of Computing Services at Bryn Mawr College and an adjunct faculty member in Instructional Technology at Philadelphia University. Prior to her move to higher education in 1999, Janet was a Mechanical Engineer at DuPont and Amdahl and a software project manager at InterMedia Interactive.

Janet has a B.A. from Grinnell College in General Science, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
