Walter "JP" Peters is the IT and Communications Director for the UCF College of Sciences. With over 17 years of higher ed IT experience, JP's current responsibilities include college oversight of desktop support, instructional resources, system and network administration, research computing, and web development. He also directs the college's marketing and communications area.

JP holds leadership roles in various university-wide committees and governance groups, including college/division IT managers, virtual applications, research survey software, and data storage. Through these groups and other interactions, he helps lead collaborative efforts in a variety of cost-cutting and innovative IT initiatives across the institution.

Among his accomplishments, JP was the recipient of a 2009 Ryland Fellowship Award, and is a fellow of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.
