Slow Change in a Fast Culture


The author explores the clash between fast changing technology and those in academia who are slow to adapt this technology into their professional life.

Morris W. Beverage, Jr.

Dr. Morris W. Beverage Jr. is President of Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio, where he previously served as CFO and treasurer for 12 years. Prior to joining Lakeland, Dr. Beverage was the Director of Finance for the City of Mentor, Ohio, an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Cleveland and Manager of Finance at Fredon Corporation. He is immediate past Vice Chair of the Governing Board of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC). His service at the state and national levels includes representing community colleges in Ohio on policy-related committees, as well as testifying before legislative hearings on issues related to higher education. Dr. Beverage is past president and board member of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO); he also served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). He holds a Doctor of Management degree from Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management in Cleveland, Ohio, a Masters degree in business administration and Bachelor of Science from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, and an Associate of Arts degree from Lakeland.
