2022 Students and Technology Report: Rebalancing the Student Experience

Methodology and Acknowledgments

Methodology

The 2022 EDUCAUSE Study of Students and Technology is based on a 41-item survey instrument that was distributed during February and March 2022 to a national sample of adult (age 18 and up) undergraduate students in the United States through collaboration with Ipsos Knowledge Panel. The survey consisted of both closed- and open-ended items, and the median response time was 21 minutes. The full survey instrument can be found here.

A total of 820 respondents were included in the final data analysis (12% qualification rate and 50% completion rate), and data were weighted to reflect benchmarks from the U.S. Department of Education, National Center of Education Statistics, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Spring 2020. Data were weighted by gender, age, race/ethnicity, full-time versus part-time status, and institutional Carnegie Classification.

Open-ended data have been reported verbatim except for light editing for readability (e.g., typos and punctuation).
