EDUCAUSE was formed in 1998 through a merger between CAUSE and Educom, two respected professional associations representing more than 60 years of combined service to the higher education information technology community. The new organization was intended to

  • offer a coherent, coordinated set of programs to serve all dimensions of campus IT functions;
  • develop comprehensive, timely services to support the professionals within the membership community; and
  • provide unified leadership on key policy issues affecting higher education.

The mission of EDUCAUSE is to advance higher education through the use of information technology.
