Current Issues

Each year since 2000, the EDUCAUSE Current Issues Committee has sent a survey on the most pressing higher education IT challenges facing primary representatives and CIOs of member institutions. Nearly 600 institutions typically respond to this annual survey. From a list of approximately 30 potential issues, adapted from the changing landscape, IT leaders identify the top ten from four different perspectives:

most important for your campus to resolve for its strategic success
potential to become much more significant in the coming year
spending most of your time as an IT leader addressing
costing the most human and/or financial resources

Results of the survey are reported in the summer issue of EDUCAUSE Quarterly and include

aggregate findings and emerging trends for all responding institutions;
demographic comparisons by Carnegie Class, enrollment size, and public/private governance; and
definitions, analyses, and risk assessment questions for the top ten strategic issues.
