COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Statement and Event Updates

Resource page to help higher education institutions plan for possible campus disruption by COVID-19, or Coronavirus 19.

Update 3/12/20 | Status of NERCOMP and Security Professionals Conferences

Based on the evolving COVID-19 situation within the country, including Washington's Governor Inslee issuing an emergency proclamation that limits large events, Rhode Island's Governor Raimondo issuing a similar statement, a growing number of travel bans and restrictions among the higher education community, and the need for campus staff to prioritize efforts at their home institutions, EDUCAUSE has made the decision to transition the face-to-face NERCOMP Annual Conference and Security Professionals Conference to online formats.

EDUCAUSE is investing in new ways to scale online events and to support our communities in contributing to and participating in these new, virtual event experiences. More details on these events will be forthcoming.

Update 3/4/20 | Status of Other Conferences

The decision to cancel ELI was unique to emerging events local to the Bellevue area at this time. We will continue to monitor events throughout the United States and internationally. The status of other EDUCAUSE events is currently unchanged.

Update 3/1/20 | ELI Annual Meeting Has Been Cancelled

In light of information related to the evolving COVID-19 situation and growing community concerns we have made the difficult decision to cancel the ELI Annual Meeting. We will be issuing full registration fee refunds to all registrants, and staff will be available in Bellevue to provide assistance.

We understand the logistical inconveniences that may arise as a result of this decision and regret the disruption. Please watch the event site for more information.

Update 2/28/20

The health and safety of our community, staff and event attendees is our highest priority. As we continue to monitor guidance related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other organizations, we are committed to taking appropriate precautions to provide a safe environment that does not place our staff or event attendees at undue risk. At this time, the CDC has not indicated in any way that organizations in the United States should consider postponing or canceling events.

As a precautionary measure, EDUCAUSE is actively working with all conference venues to increase sanitization practices and healthy habits for all events. Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout each venue where we are hosting an event. For more information on best practices for prevention, please visit the CDC coronavirus (COVID-19) web page.

Given the evolving nature of COVID-19, EDUCAUSE will continue to closely monitor developments. In addition to safeguarding the health and safety of our event attendees and employees, we remain committed to providing clear and timely communications leading up to and at our events. Should we receive information from the CDC that would prompt us to make adjustments to our event schedule, we will immediately notify all impacted parties via email and post regular updates on our website.
