Third-Party Engagement

Corporations, associations, and organizations that serve higher education and support the mission and goals of EDUCAUSE can engage with EDUCAUSE in various ways. Some of the companies that support EDUCAUSE are Corporate Members, and some Corporate Members participate in the EDUCAUSE Corporate Engagement Program as Partners or Supporters. EDUCAUSE also maintains relationships with associations that serve particular higher education constituents and interests, and from time to time EDUCAUSE works with these associations on resources or events.

Irrespective of their status as Participants, Members, Partners, or Supporters, third parties can provide financial or in-kind support to EDUCAUSE in exchange for benefits including branding, sharing of thought leadership, and engagement with the EDUCAUSE community of higher education technology professionals.

Products and services that can have third-party involvement include, but are not limited to, the following: Horizon Reports, content in EDUCAUSE Review, the EDUCAUSE Showcase Series, research, toolkits, white papers, events, professional development activities, multimedia, and other resources as EDUCAUSE sees fit to produce. For any resource that includes third-party engagement, the nature of that involvement will fall into one of three categories and will be prominently displayed in that resource: sponsorship, collaboration, and promotion.

In a sponsorship relationship, a third party’s name, logo, or other acknowledgment is included on resources or events whose content is conceived, developed, written, and/or produced by EDUCAUSE, whether they are open to the public or restricted to EDUCAUSE members. The third party might have early access to findings but has no editorial influence on the content.

Collaborate

In a collaborative relationship, EDUCAUSE and a third party work together to develop resources or events for the benefit of the community. The collaboration can take the form of identifying topics to cover, formulating and evaluating research questions, determining format(s) for the resource(s), brainstorming ideas and goals, creating original content (including text, graphics, or multimedia), or engaging in other activities that contribute to the development of resources or events that EDUCAUSE produces, posts on its website, or otherwise makes available to the community it serves, whether they are open to the public or restricted to EDUCAUSE members.

Promote

Promotional content and advertisements are provided by the third party. EDUCAUSE, at its discretion, may reject promotional content or ads that are deemed libelous, offensive, or otherwise not reflective of the association’s mission and values. EDUCAUSE reserves the right to make or request changes to promotional content or ads for spelling and grammar, but the third party accepts responsibility for the content and its accuracy.
