Faculty Mobile Computing at Rensselaer

Abstract

This presentation will discuss A key to the success of Rensselaer's Mobile Computing program, integrating laptop computers into the curriculum. In preparation the first year of the program, Rensselaer provided 144 faculty with IBM ThinkPads identical to the students' model. Computing and Information Services (CIS) shared the cost of the laptops with the academic departments and the Office of the Provost. Academic Computing Services (ACS) worked with the faculty and other support organizations to identify and obtain software, offered training, and helped develop courseware.
