Reengineering Teaching and Learning in Higher Ed: Sheltered Groves, Camelot, Windmills, and Malls

Friday, January 1, 1993

Professional Paper #10. This paper tackles one of the most controversial subjects in higher education: can information technology help to reengineer the teaching and learning process, and if so how? The paper includes essays by information technology leaders from a research university, a liberal arts college, a community college, and a comprehensive university. The authors' essays and opinions differ as much as the missions of their respective institutions. Providing further dimension to the discussion are commentaries by respected professionals which delineate areas of consensus and dissension on a subject of immediate interest and concern to higher education. Publication of this paper was supported by Digital Equipment Corporation.
