Director of Analytics Services

Membership Information

Leah Lang leads EDUCAUSE Analytics Services, a suite of data services, products, and tools that can be used to inform decision-making about IT in higher education. The foundational service in this suite is the EDUCAUSE Core Data Services (CDS). CDS is higher education’s comprehensive information technology (IT) benchmarking data service, used by IT leaders in over 750 colleges and universities since 2002 to inform their IT strategic planning and management. When constituents are looking for more than out-of-the-box data products and tools, the EDUCAUSE Custom Analytics Service can be used to purchase a product that is better suited to the customer’s needs. To improve the value and efficiency of IT’s contribution to higher education and to further mature the community’s use of data, EDUCAUSE continues to expand the services, products, and tools offered through Analytics Services. New services being developed include: maturity indices, which measure the capability to deliver IT services and applications in a given area; deployment indices, which measure the degree to which an institution has deployed the technologies and services in a specific area of IT; and IT operations assessment reports, which are semi-customizable reports based on user inputs and data from CDS that will help institutions understand the relative efficiency and productivity of their IT services.

Prior to working with EDUCAUSE, Leah was a Service and Metrics Analyst at Carnegie Mellon University where she conducted surveys and developed metrics that were used to inform IT project and service decisions. Leah has also worked as a Mathematical Statistician at the US Census Bureau. Her work at Census entailed research and development for the American Community Survey and weighting and variance estimation for the Current Population Survey.

Leah has a B.S. in Statistics from Penn State and an M.S. in Survey Methodology from the University of Maryland.
