Werner Gade

Biography

Werner Gade is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and CIO for the University of Wisconsin Colleges, Wisconsin'€™s 13 freshman/sophomore campuses and UW Colleges Online, and the University of Wisconsin-Extension, whose divisions include Business and Entrepreneurship; Broadcasting and Media Innovations; Continuing Education, Outreach and E-Learning; and Cooperative Extension. He is responsible for leading a customer-focused organization that delivers innovative, efficient, and effective technology solutions to support the institutions teaching, research, and service missions. Werner is an active participant in UW System and local government groups. He guides the overall direction for technology through strategic planning, evaluation, budgeting, and management of all areas of technology. He is currently focused on improving process efficiencies and standardization, technology enablement, personnel development and management, collaboration, customer service, creating effective management teams, operations management, customer relationship management, and project management. Prior to entering the higher education field in 2011, Werner held senior management positions in several organizations, managing up to 200 people and budgets up to $130MM, and accumulating 30 years of business management and information technology experience. He has managed global teams supporting global deployments of Oracle Financials, Financial Reporting, Sales Forecasting, Human Resource, and i-Series supply chain systems; managed data centers; managed a Print to Mail center; and managed multiple operations teams responsible for enterprise architecture, information security, database systems, network and systems management, customer service, and service delivery. Werner holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University and a Professional Development Certificate in Advanced Management and Leadership from the University of Wisconsin -€“ Madison.
